A Little History About this Novel:
The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles is a children's fantasy novel, published back in 1974. The novel was written by Julie Andrews Edwards, an actress well-known for her work in theatre and her appearance in movies such as Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music. I just love her work and when I was asked to create a guide for this novel of hers, I was delighted! "The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles" follows a trio of siblings through an imaginative adventure to an incredible land where they meet a truly unique creature, the Whangdoodle. The book is a beautiful reminder of the power of imagination and the possibility of adventure all around. I have truly been inspired by this book, and honestly feel this guide is a beautiful addition to our Build Your Masterpiece Class Series.
What's included in this Epic Study Adventure?
- Teacher Lesson Plans (1st PDF) with over 100+ Pages of details for all 12 lessons with supply lists, weekly rhythm plans, book lists, QR codes, discussion questions, pantry supply lists, recipes, thematic topic lessons, artist studies, and so much more!
- Student Workbook (2nd PDF) with over 240+ Pages of worksheets covering the following subjects: Language Arts, Vocabulary, Music, Geography, Science, Nature, Copy-work, Creative Writing, Multiple-Choice Questions, and more!
This book consists of 3 parts and many of our lessons include 1 to 2 chapters to read per week. I have included weekly rhythms for you to guide your days, with simple daily tasks to make your way through this book, and novel study adventure. While reading this book and learning the life lessons it contains, we will also be learning about a handful of European countries that link to the artists and composers we will be introduced to along the way.
As their music and art link back to the context of the novel we are reading, we will be able to dive deeper into the culture and inspiration to be had from this imaginative and rich children's book novel. There will also be nature study features, recipes, vocabulary, plus fun colouring pages, art appreciation, art comparison, and more! I have also included a passport and stamps to collect as you go through the novel study adventure.
Let's use the power of our imagination today and start this next adventure!
